NANOCID-EO approach of using carbon quantum dots (CQDs) doped with essential oils and organic acid represents an innovative strategy in enhancing antibacterial efficacy through synergistic effects. Carbon quantum dots are nanoscale carbon-based particles that exhibit unique properties like high surface area, good biocompatibility, which make them excellent carriers and enhancers for bioactive compounds. When combined with essential oils, these properties of CQDs help improve the antibacterial potential of essential oils through several mechanisms.
