WHISPO, PREVENTION FROM WHITE SPOT SYNDROME VIRUS, Feed Supplement
Highlights:
The white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), has emerged globally as one of the most prevalent, widespread and lethal for shrimp populations. WSSV-infected shrimp may rapidly develop white spots (ranging from 0.5–3.0 mm in diameter) on the exoskeleton, appendages and inside the epidermis. WSSV is one of the most virulent pathogens of cultured penaeid shrimp. WSS pandemics primarily occur with the sequential transmission of WSSV from healthy shrimp that consume dead WSSV-infected shrimp to other healthy shrimp.
Controlling of WSSV with innovation utilizing IgY antibodies as well as Nanotechnology help to control spread of viral infection. At the same time enhancing immunity with nanoparticle and other herbals helps to control spread of infection in pond.
Leveraging IgY antibodies against WSSV provides a specific means of neutralizing the virus and boosting shrimp resilience and enhance shrimp immunity, providing a natural disease control. Once IgY antibodies bind to WSSV, they prevent the virus from replicating by disrupting its ability to interact with host cells. This limits the spread of infection within the shrimp, reducing overall viral load and symptom severity. Shrimp have a relatively simple immune system that lacks the adaptive immune responses found in mammals. IgY antibodies provide a form of passive immunity, giving shrimp immediate defense against WSSV. This is particularly valuable in young or stressed shrimp populations that may have weaker immune responses.
Silver, zinc, and copper nanoparticles are gaining attention in aquaculture as potential tools for controlling viral infections, including White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) in shrimp. Silver nanoparticles have been shown to disrupt viral replication by binding to viral proteins and nucleic acids. This binding can interfere with the virus’s ability to enter and replicate within shrimp cells, effectively lowering the viral load. Silver nanoparticle enhances immune responses by promoting the activity of immune cells in shrimp. Zinc is an essential trace element that plays a critical role in immune function. ZnNPs can stimulate the shrimp immune system, enhancing its ability to respond to pathogens. By boosting immune responses, ZnNPs help shrimp defend against viral infections like WSSV. Zinc nanoparticles provide antioxidant support, reducing oxidative stress in shrimp that can be caused by WSSV infection. Reduced oxidative stress helps maintain cell integrity, making it harder for the virus to spread. Copper nanoparticles are known for their broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. Against viruses, CuNPs can damage viral structures by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS) and interfering with viral proteins. This antiviral action helps lower WSSV levels in the water and within shrimp. Copper nanoparticles can boost immune responses by stimulating immune cell activity. This enhanced immunity helps shrimp fight off viral infections, reducing the severity of WSSV outbreaks. When used together, silver, zinc, and copper nanoparticles can create a synergistic effect that strengthens the immune response. The combined stimulation of immune cells by these nanoparticles provides better resistance against WSSV infection. This immune boost helps shrimp resist viral infection, providing a level of protection against WSSV.
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS), Mannan oligosaccharides (MOS), and Vitamin E are increasingly used in aquaculture to help control diseases, including White Spot Disease in shrimp. These components work by supporting gut health, strengthening immunity, and reducing pathogen load, helping to manage White Spot Disease effectively. At the same time Selenium nanoparticles, Vitamin E to boost immune system of shrimp. This helps to control viral, bacterial and associated other infectious agents and help to improve productivity. In addition, chelated minerals, vitamins and growth promotors helps to improve recovery from disease.
